PLOT SUMMARY:  While his sisters are asleep, Niño uses his imagination to wrestle a group of well-known monsters.  With his great moves he defeats all of them.  When the time has come for his sisters to wake up, there is nothing left for Niño but to wrestle them too.  His hermanitas are ruthless and unable to beat them, Niño has no other option but to join them and they become one team.

ANALYSIS: Niño is like any other child who loves to play.  He’s knowledge of lucha libre sets him off to start his own wrestling match with the monsters but not before putting on his own mask.  One can gather that he is also very caring about his sisters because even though he wrestles them at the end, as the oldest sibling he is careful in the way he wrestles them allowing them to “defeat” him.

SETTING: The change of clothing when Niño starts wrestling depicts one of the popular attires used during a wrestling match by wrestlers.  Niño changes from his shirt and pants to a mask, his underwear and he keeps his shoes.

ILLUSTRATION ANALYSIS:  There is an abundance use of color in this book.  Not only are the characters full of color but also the speech bubbles used throughout the book.  There is no speech bubble with the same color scheme.  The sound words used are also presented in a variety of colors.

THEME: The theme of the book is depicting Méxican life and culture.  The author presents the theatrical-type wrestling that is very popular in México.  Through the wrestling matches that el Niño has, Morales also introduces Niño opponents who are characters that are well known in the Méxican culture such as La Llorona and the Guanajuato Mummy.
